An 18-year-old Nigerian television personality faced a harrowing experience when she was sexually brutalized by criminals after completing her shift over the weekend, according to the latest reports.
The incident occurred in Lapai, Niger State, approximately 150 kilometers west of Abuja, the Nigerian capital. The victim, who is associated with a private station in the area, received a distressing call on Saturday, instructing her to appear at Kobo Primary School in the community.
Trusting the call, she arrived at the school but was met by assailants who drugged and subjected her to repeated acts of rape in one of the classrooms. Additionally, the attackers seized her phone and rummaged through its contents. It’s worth noting that Nigerian early and middle schools are typically closed during weekends.
For the sake of privacy, we have decided not to disclose the victim’s contact information. However, a family member revealed that she intends to come forward with her account of the incident once she has received appropriate medical care.
Fortunately, the victim was able to identify one of her attackers, leading to the arrest of two individuals as the investigation continues to unfold.
Police spokesman, Abiodun Wasiu, shared, “We are still actively investigating the matter and making efforts to apprehend more suspects. Updates will be provided to the public as we progress with the case.” The identities of the suspects are expected to be released soon, pending their legal representation.
